LA Safe Fashion
Our commitments against toxic fashion and for safe fashion: 100% organic – 100% safe
The hidden toxicity of children's clothing
At RISU•RISU, we have been advocating for Safe Fashion since 2014: children's fashion that is entirely healthy, designed for children's health.
Because conventional fashion can conceal a veritable chemical cocktail . Pesticides, synthetic dyes, industrial finishes: more than 400 different chemical substances can be found in a child's garment. Nearly 98% of children's clothing is affected!
We champion non-toxic fashion, certified and traceable from start to finish. Not just “green,” but safe above all. And we reject Toxic Fashion : clothes made with fabrics saturated with pesticides and dyed with products harmful to health (formaldehyde, heavy metals, PFAS, endocrine disruptors, etc.).

Particularly vulnerable children
Children are the first to be exposed to these toxins. Their skin is 30% thinner, more fragile, and more absorbent than that of adults, and is in constant contact with their clothes, pajamas, and sheets 24/7. Their developing bodies are less able to eliminate these unwanted compounds. Scientific studies show that these exposures, even at very low doses, can have irreversible effects on their health: asthma, eczema, hormonal or developmental disorders, and later, hormone-dependent cancers. Protecting their health is not a luxury; it is a vital and immediate priority.
Toxic substances: what the studies say
These are not assumptions, but established facts . For example, conventional cotton farming occupies 2.5% of cultivated land but consumes 16% of the world's insecticides . A non-organic cotton t-shirt can require up to 150 grams of pesticides before it's even made. These residues are then found in the fabric: no strict regulations require their removal. Another example is PFAS compounds, known as "perennial pollutants," which are widely used to make textiles waterproof or stain-resistant. The journal Environmental Health Perspectives estimated that they were detected in almost all children's waterproof clothing tested. As for formaldehyde, used to prevent wrinkling, it is classified as a known carcinogen: analyses have measured up to 1,200 ppm of formaldehyde in new clothes, a level far exceeding European standards. Faced with these figures, one thing is clear: our children sometimes unknowingly wear an invisible enemy on their skin.

Common misconceptions: deconstructing false hopes
It's often thought that washing is enough to remove toxic products. Wrong! Many substances (phthalates, flame retardants, dyes, etc.) remain permanently embedded in the fibers or migrate slowly to the skin. It might also be reassuring to think that "if it's sold, it's safe." Again, wrong! In reality, very few children's clothes are tested for their actual safety, and no label indicates the chemical substances used. In the absence of a legal requirement, it falls to brands and vigilant parents to be extra vigilant in protecting the youngest members of the family.
100% SAFE, 100% ORGANIC: the RISU•RISU commitment
At RISU•RISU, we refuse compromises and half-measures.
Our internal 100% SAFE – 100% ORGANIC label guarantees clothing that respects the child's health at every stage: made from GOTS certified organic cotton, dyes without harmful substances (OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 class I certification, the strictest for babies), and complete traceability from the cotton field to the workshop.
Every component (thread, button, label) is also non-toxic. Zero compromise, zero greenwashing: a garment is either 100% healthy or it isn't.
This unique requirement offers parents real peace of mind: that of dressing their children without ever jeopardizing their health.
