The exclusive organic and French jersey RISU.RISU

The French jersey RISU.RISU

We always seek the finest materials for the manufacture of RISU.RISU children's clothing, in keeping with the principles of a high-end brand that seeks to combine comfort with ecology.

Until now, high-end brands generally sought quality fabrics and careful finishes; RISU.RISU adds ecological criteria to this, comfort alone is no longer enough to be a brand worthy of appearing in a maximum number of children's wardrobes.

1. RISU fabric selection criteria.

.

- 100% organic cotton. We look for pure cotton, no polyamide or polyester. This is better for the child's comfort, preventing excessive sweating. It's essential for protecting the environment; polyamide is a petrochemical-based material, and clothing containing it will never biodegrade and will release microplastics into the water with every wash. We look for certified organic cotton because it has been grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and it is non-GMO: this is the minimum for the environment and the health of workers in the cotton fields.

- Certified by a label: Cotton comes from far away… only official certification from a label can guarantee that the cotton is truly organic; trust in your supplier is not enough. - Short supply chain: The closer the fabric is made to our workshop in Spain, the better. Buying fabric from a Spanish (Italian, French, etc.) supplier means nothing; we always inquire with our suppliers about the manufacturing and finishing locations of the fabric.

- Controlled Fabric Finishing: Once the fabric is manufactured, it still needs to be dyed, softened, shrink-resistant, and waterproofed… this is called finishing, and it's where the most toxic substances are added, without any information being provided to the consumer (the legal vacuum is complete). We require our suppliers to have certification for this part of our fabric manufacturing process. The certification applies to the finished fabric, and that changes EVERYTHING.

- upcycling We try to use up the fabrics from our collections down to the last meter (long live hair clips!), we create small capsules in the years following the production of the collection. We have recently undertaken to also recover the ends of rolls abandoned in our workshop in Girona.

2- the exclusive RISU.RISU jersey

.

From the brand's inception, it was clear that we would offer a range of underwear and sleepwear for children, the first garment in contact with their skin. Logically, we therefore needed to find a jersey fabric worthy of the name.

The first RISU.RISU collections used fairly simple French jersey, and at the time, there were no dyers who used environmentally friendly dyeing methods that met the label's requirements. We then sourced our jersey from Portugal; it became iconic for the brand with its squirrel-knit texture and soft feel, and we were able to offer an eco-friendly dye. Later, we discovered a French supplier near Roanne who could manufacture our jersey locally, organically and with certification applied to the finished fabric (RISU.RISU was one of the first brands to benefit from eco-friendly dyeing for its jersey).

Of course, this exceptional quality comes at a cost, a cost that, as a socially responsible brand, we don't fully pass on to the retail price of our clothing. Consumers have praised this extraordinary jersey, with its exceptional feel and impeccable drape. The comfort, softness, and plushness of RISU.RISU jersey garments are simply unique.

.

3- RISU fleece.RISU

.

Logically, like jersey, we continued to have what's known in the industry as "knitwear" produced in France. The fleece, also made by the same French supplier near Roanne, is ultra-soft, made of pure organic cotton, and certified organic on the finished fabric (so, if you've been following along, it's dyed in a way that respects health and the environment). This unique fleece is used in our baby pants and jackets, as well as in our RISU.RISU sweatshirts and dressing gowns (our famous Cocoon jackets). This thick fleece is quite expensive, and again, we made the decision not to pass on its cost to the retail price of the garment; it's part of our brand's commitment to sustainability.

Again, once you try it, you'll be hooked forever! Don't hesitate to check clothing labels; you might be surprised… regardless of the price point, you sometimes find blended cotton, even for babies (profitability at its finest!).

Conclusion

RISU.RISU clothing is therefore the most comfortable to wear. Their feel is instantly recognizable, so much so that children ask their parents to buy them pyjamas with the squirrel on them, or sweatshirts that are so soft.

And what a source of pride to contribute in such a concrete way to a change in children's fashion.
