Every summer, we spend two weeks at the seaside. Every summer, I swim a lot in the Mediterranean, and the beauty of the seabed and the hidden marine life moves me and makes me aware of the importance of protecting the sea. One of the most obvious ways to preserve the sea is to eliminate plastic from our daily lives.
It is so shocking to see plastic waste dumped in the water and threatening the completely defenseless wildlife and plants...
For many years, I had already eliminated as much plastic as possible from the kitchen, which contaminates food with toxic substances (the infamous endocrine disruptors).
All that remained was for me to remove it from the bathroom, which until recently wasn't so easy due to the limited availability of solid organic cosmetics or those offered in glass containers.
Besides the environmental aspect, I also suspect that plastic allows harmful substances to migrate into its contents, which are then applied to our skin. Since skin is permeable, there's no point in applying harmful elements to it.

Upon waking, winter or summer, I like to apply Antipodes toner , which has a beneficial effect on facial skin; it doesn't have the drying effect of typical toners.
Then the Melvita lifting argan cream is very moisturizing in my opinion and pleasant to apply.
After a swim in the sea or a pool (I swim a lot), a few drops of Inspyrées skincare oil are essential to restore suppleness and lasting hydration to my face. The oil is thick, so you need to massage it in thoroughly.
In the hygiene section, I'm happy with my latest finds:
Clément et Vivien deodorant is a peppermint and sage balm, effective and good for sensitive skin
When it's really hot, I also like the Lavera lemon deodorant (glass bottle) that I've been using for several years. It smells great and is applied in just a few sprays!
Pachamamaï 's shampoo for dry hair is fantastic; the brand's latest product, it lathers up very easily, is appealing because of its pink color, rinses out quickly, and has a pleasant scent. Hair is left very soft and its volume is noticeable.
If you've never tried solid shampoo, all the ones from this brand are really good. However, I disagree with the claim on the box that one bar is equivalent to two bottles of traditional shampoo. I find they run out quite quickly.
I use Ballot Flurin soap for my body; it's very rich in propolis, and I like to think it's beneficial for the skin. I appreciate the ethics of this family business, which adds to the pleasure I get from using this soap, which doesn't run out too quickly.
And finally: my greatest pride and latest discovery: Pachamamaï solid toothpaste ! After many disappointing attempts with solid toothpaste, this one is (finally) very good; it leaves teeth feeling soft (yes, really!), the little pot is adorable, and it's easy and pleasant to use. Pair it with a bamboo toothbrush, or better yet, a beechwood one (the plastic handles of most toothbrushes have absolutely no place in your mouth!).
I had been looking for a long time for a way to remove the plastic bottles from toothpaste tubes which are difficult to recycle, and I always wondered if they did not contaminate the toothpaste itself (always the endocrine disruptors).
These little wonders can be found at Ecocentric (ecocentric.fr) or Mademoiselle Bio.
I renew my stock approximately every 6 months and am quite loyal to the products once I have found the ones that suit me.
What's missing here is a body balm (too big for my holiday vanity bag) and a sunscreen (I admit I use very little of it but I think you can find it in a jar).
I would be delighted if you discovered these cosmetics and introduced them into your own bathroom!
Do you know of any others?
Are you concerned about eliminating plastic from your daily life?
