We wish you a happy new year 2022!

Here we offer you a breathing space on the fringe of society's turbulence, always centred on an ecological way of life, close to nature and respectful of the cycle of the seasons.

To start this year, still full of uncertainties, in a serene and gentle way, we offer you light and comforting seasonal recipes for a simple and tasty meal and two tutorials to bring life to the heart of the winter that is just beginning.

Two very easy DIY projects to do with four hands:

The birdhouse

.

Whether you live in the city or in the countryside, the little birds of everyday life are waiting for you to brighten up your life! Cécile, who lives in the heart of Paris, has been feeding birds on her terrace for years and it is a joy to see the tits, sparrows and robins come to peck at the seeds she gives them. She made a 100% recycled and very cute nesting box for us. A very satisfying craft for the smallest children.

You need: 1 full potato box made of light wood

1 roll of string

1 pair of scissors

1 bag of birdseed

.

How to make it:

Remove the lid of the box and cut two 60 cm lengths of string. Pass the string through the bottom corner of the box and make a knot at the top of the corner. Repeat the operation in the opposite corner, making a diagonal. Do the same on the two remaining corners. The base of the nest box is ready. With the help of an adult, fold the lid in half by splitting it slightly and make a small roof. Fill the box with seeds and hang it on a tree. If you are in town, hang it on a window or balcony railing. The pigeons will not come as they need to sit on the ground to eat so there is no need to worry about attracting them!

Hyacinths to grow indoors

.

Winter is the time for plants to rest and regenerate, but it's always good to see hyacinths and other bulbous plants growing and flowering indoors.

The first flowers of winter have a strong fragrance and hyacinths are the perfect example of this!

You will need:

potted hyacinths in different colours

Simple clay pots or a hollow dish

Moss (to be found in nature with this rainy winter, ask your florist)

.

To give poetry to simple potted hyacinths, place them in clay pots and cover everything with freshly picked moss. Do not forget to make a "gap" between the plant and the pot if it does not have a water drain.

Water every two days and let the children observe the accelerated development of the plant and its heady scent! When the hyacinth is wilted, leave it outside and let the leaves turn yellow. This allows the bulb to regenerate and you can plant it in the ground to see it bloom again in the spring of 2023!
